Holiday

Today is Veteran's Day, where we thank all our veterans and most of the employed members of society get the day off work. This includes my wonderful husband Zach, so we're having a little mini-weekend fun day today. We slept in and then went for a run, and now we're heading out to bum around town and enjoy the day.

I'm having a really good week so far. My legs feel good - I've been icing like crazy, stretching and rolling, etc. Also, I'm feeling a lot more positive and upbeat. Getting excited about the marathon. Here's the run down of my recent workouts.

Sunday
Bike 16.5 miles
Marine Drive West to Kelly Point Park- fun and scenic ride!

Monday
8.0 miles/1:15:29/9:26 average pace
Easy slow run along river. Legs were kinda sore but not bad.

Tuesday
7.0 miles/56:57/8:08 average pace
Today we did the interval workout together. This was nice because Zach paced me and encouraged me along. He didn't run ahead like last time either! It was really nice. We ran 2 miles warm up at an easy pace, then did three one-mile repeats. My splits were:

7:11

6:43

7:03

(6:59 ave)

I'd have to double check my log but I think that 6:43 is my fastest mile ever. :O I know I ran a 6:46 mile in a 5k once but that's it... yay! I felt great too, it wasn't even that hard. I felt like the first one was hardest, the second one was not bad, and the third one was pretty hard. But I didn't feel that exhausted or like I was going to puke, which is how I'd normally feel. Then we did one mile easy to finish up. I am so happy with this run!!

Feeling really good about the rest of the week- I'm scheduled to run 50 miles and know I can do it. Saturday is our last 20 miler and I'm excited about that. It's even supposed to be NICE here all weekend! Well, "partly cloudy." But this is the first time we've seen anything but "rain," "showers," etc on the forecast for a few weeks! I'll take it!

I think every single friend and family member I know had today off except me (yes, pitty me!) ;-)

Nice job with the runs and good luck with the 20-miler this weekend. I'm glad to hear you are excited.

Nice interval workout!! It's been a while since I've done any running intervals but the first one is nearly always the hardest for me. Great pace and good luck on your last 20-miler.

Happy Veterans Day!

awesome intervals! I, too, am looking forward to this weekend's nicer weather (and totally dreading my track workout tonight - it's cold & soggy & dark! waaah!)

I also had to work today - but I try not to complain too much, since I never work Mondays.

YAY for a day off. Man, I need one of those already and I just had two days off.

Your blog looks great and your workouts sound perfect. A bike ride to loosen the legs and a 20-miler to finish the week strong. Doesn't get much better than that!

Your intervals are crazy. I am so jealous. Think if you just did a one mile time trial! And you're training for a 26 mile race - what if you just focused on speed.

Ahhh, I'm jealous!!!

You know what, I think it was the antioxidantosa that you partook in last night.

Wow - you are getting SO ready! Fabulous - you must be so excited... I know what you mean about a decent weather forecast - it is SO wet and cold here I just can't wait for a dry day!

Keep up the great work - after this week the 20M will be easy-peasy..

A new look! I like the photos.

6:43 is good running Jen - well done. The pace on your 20 miler should feel pretty easy after that. Enjoy every partly cloudy day between now and whenever ;)

We commemorate Anzac Day down here. It's a special day.
