Picture time: Boston, Petra, NEW BIKE

Here is the full set of photos from Boston (link) but I think these pretty much say it all. These are my top 10 favorite pictures in chronological order:

Finally, here is the video message I sent to Maritza...

If that doesn't work, click HERE for the link.

So, I returned home on Wednesday night and then had the pleasure of spending Thursday morning with my good friend Maritza and our new friend Petra! She's just as sweet as can be and we had a great time together. The three of us ran/walked around the Lafayette Reservoir while I gave a rambling review of my Boston experience. It was cool to get to share it with them so soon after the race. :) Then we went to breakfast and I gave the other girls a chance to talk for a few minutes ;) Petra is a wonderful and interesting person- I wish she lived closer!!

Finally, last but most certainly not least...

I GOT A NEW BIKE!!

It is so freaking sweet. I have only been on it for a quick test ride and then the fitting so tomorrow will be the first real ride. The clip-ins will take some major getting used to but man I'm gonna be able to go so fast! I rode 19 miles today on my old bike (aka "the beast") by riding up to Danville and meeting Maritza for lunch. That's the last long ride I'll do on that thing, I'll just use it for commuting now. I've got a lot of work to do to prepare for the Half Ironman race in August and will start my training this week. I think we're joining a masters swim class next week so my butt is going to be pretty quickly whipped into triathlon shape. Bring it!!!

WOW Jen. I'm a bit late to the Boston party (overwhelmed by race reports!) but I finally got to read yours and have to give you huge congrats for such a fantastic race. I dream of crossing that tape like you did, with happiness and emotions running high over what you've accomplished. Enjoy your recovery period - you've earned it!

And that's one smokin' hot bike as well! Dang!

Hey Jen,
Sweet bike, I love it! Careful about getting used to the clipless pedals though (when I first got mine I fell over right in the middle of a four stop intersection, talk about embarrassment!).

I can't wait to read about your tales of half-ironman training (we're in the same boat, I'm doing my first one in August too). I also love reading about all of your training adventures and seeing all the beautiful places you get to ride and run. And good luck with your new Master's swim class, too! Swimming in a Master's class has helped to keep me an honest swimmer (i.e. forced to do hour long hard workouts rather than settling for a 200 kick and calling it a day).

And congratulations on the race again, we were so close I can't believe we didn't see each other!

Fantastic Fotos!! Seeing them gave me fond memories. What a great race Boston is.

And how wonderful that you got to meet up with Petra. You three all have the loveliest smiles. Good luck with your 1/2 IM training. Took me a while to get used to the pedals but it is the way to go if you wanna be fast, which I know you do :-)

For some reason I have not been able to comment on your blog for a few days- it kept giving me an error, but let's try this time...

First, AWESOME FRICKEN JOB ON THE MARATHON!!! I cannot even tell you how excited I am for you that you got soooo incredibly close to your "A" goal! As I was reading your blog, I was reading so fast because the anticipation of how you did was killing me! You tell a great story!

I'm glad to hear the recovery is going well and even if it's not, it's nothing a new bike can't cure!! My hubby bought a new bike today too but he bought a used from a bike shop so he got a $2K bike for $400!

Again, awesome job Jen and thanks for sharing your story!

You forgot "YUM"!

Did you see the video of the Wellesley Girls on Mike's blog?

Look at those wheels. Shimano 105 too. You'll be riding like the wind.

Great Boston photos! I love the one of you passed out in the airport (and rightfully so).

SEXY BIKE! Whip that ass into shape!! And clipping in really doesn't take that long to get used to, so don't fret!

Nice selection of 10 photos, including the airport nap.

Okay, what does this mean when I am literally drooling at the closeups of your new bike when I hardly ride mine (except to commute) anymore?

Woohoo! I am SO late to this party. Amazing work in Boston but I had the fortune (yay!) of hearing it all first hand on our leisurely run - Jen it was such a JOY to run with you and Maritza! Thank you!

That bike looks amazing and I am in awe of your proposed training - you are going to be fitter than fit. And finally - Zach! - well done! Amazing performance. What a team you make!
