weekend update

It was a wonderful weekend! The weather was nice and we spent lots of time outside.

Friday we ran after work up in Forest Park, then Saturday we had an awesome road ride with Emily. We explored a route that took us down south along the east side of the river then back up the west side and through the Terwilliger hills. It was so pretty and I felt really strong the whole time! I was slow on the hills, but I felt comfortable flying down the other sides. My max speed was 33 MPH. Weee! Today I ran but I really felt the bike miles in my legs. Ouch. I was just not feeling it at all, so I cut the run short.

Friday: run
5.0 miles/38:08/7:38 average pace
Forest Park

Saturday: bike
30.5 miles/2:13:10/13.7 MPH
River Road Loop

Sunday: run
6.0 miles/53:00/8:50 average pace
Waterfront

The Diet is going good so far this week. I lost 3.5 lbs in the first week. I'm sure it will slow down and I want it to be permanent, so I know it won't be that much every week. Still, yay! I love that Daily Plate website. I went grocery shopping today and am excited for my week of healthy foods.

Here is my schedule for the week. It's my first week of Base Training!

Monday: rest/Weights
Tuesday: :45 Run/Masters swim class
Wednesday: :60 Spin class+ :15 T-run/Weights
Thursday: :45 Bike/Masters swim class
Friday: 1:00 Run
Saturday: 1:45 Bike
Sunday: 1:15 Run

Total: 8:45 (plus Weights)

After the ride on Saturday we drove out to the coast. It was cold and and windy as usual but very beautiful.

Have a great week everyone! I'm going to try to update more frequently with all this training. Here are some pictures from Saturday:

Dang chica, 3.5 lbs! Nice job!

Can't wait to hear more about your training.

Looks like you have a spin on your schedule this week. Is that AM or PM? I could totally make an afternoon spin class, you tell me when and where =).

I need to start doing the daily plate again. I woke up starving and ate eggs+bacon+bagel. I never do that! You must have done a great job eating this week!

Can't wait for more rides!

I've been starving the last couple of days, but am now jealous of your 3.5 lb loss! I need to be a little better (I'm at 2.2 lbs down in 2 weeks).

nice pics & nice ride! I start into my biking this week - but know I'm not ready for 30 miles yet.

Looks like a good day at the beach! We all need to get together soon.

Weekend Update with Jen! You should be on SNL with Seth Myers. LOL.

I love the pics, especially the ones of you running in silhouette on the shore. Beautiful!

Great week-end and looks like a fantastic week. Keep up the spirit. Nothing like running on the beach in the mist & breeze.

I LOVE that bike jersey you have on!

And way to go on your food tracking, weight loss, biking and running. For me, IM training is not about just going the distance (that I know I can do). It's about putting it all together and that nutrition piece is the hardest. Keep up the great work!!

Nice job on the workouts and whoo-hoo weightloss!!

I'm trying REALLY hard not to go on the daily plate already, cuz I promised you I wouldn't until after the mary. In the meantime, I'm exercising portion control and packing my own lunches and it must be working b/c I am hungry! Me want to eat entire pizzas-nom-nom-nom-nom-nom!

Cool running photos by the beach! I love the Daily Plate, but I think when I put in exercise it gives me too many calories :) Great job though-- 3.5 is Biggest Loser levels of awesome!

the Daily Plate is amazing. And it's working quite well for you! Nice work :)

I didn't know California was a republic! And isn't the speed limit in town 35 mph? Watch out for radar traps.

Another vote for "silhouette beach runner" - the first one (much better form). Go the 3.5 lbs - that should keep you above the yellow line ;)

Wow, awesome pix and that looks like a perfectly balanced training week to me. Did you decide to go with a coach for IM or did you get another plan online? i am so excited to read about your journey, it's going to be extraordinary.

Hope the job continues to go well and congrats on the 3.5 lb loss-yay!
