Yay weekend! It was so fun and busy that I didn’t even have time to update my blog until Monday. Here are the highlights in no particular order:
- Races! The Shamrock Run took place on Sunday here in Portland and a bunch of my runner friends were out there representing. Zach crushed his 5k PR and finished 9th in his age group out of 465. Awesome. Alisa, Amy, Justin (Alisa’s husband), and our friends Lisa and Andrew also ran like champs. Down in California, Aron and Tara ran a half marathon in Sacramento and also did great. Congrats guys!! Check out their race reports. Zach even wrote one! I forgot he had a blog.
- Long run! I didn’t participate in the race since I just did a 10k last weekend and have a half marathon next weekend. Instead, I got an 18 mile run in. I felt really good and ran a strong pace. It was a big confidence boost for my BQ attempt in Eugene. After I got home Zach and I feasted on pancakes and bacon and then soaked in the hot tub.
- Crunk! We went out on Friday night and it turned into an unplanned late night of drinking. We started out going to the roller derby with a big group, and ended up at a bar here in the neighborhood. I haven’t gone out like that in a while and it was a blast. The hangover on Saturday reminded me why I don’t do that more often.
- Shopping! I never really go shopping anymore… I just don’t have the patience for it. Plus I kind of hate spending money! (This is NOT how I used to be) But this weekend I spent hours spending money and it was great. I got new shoes, new running clothes, new work clothes, and new casual clothes. I still need new jeans but I ran out of steam toward the end of the day. I haven’t even added it all up yet, that’s going to sting.
Here are the stats on the last two runs of my week and then we’ll get to the fun part: pictures!
Saturday
5.0 miles/42:31/8:30 average pace
Recovery run with Zach. Technically not recovery pace but it felt good and it was fun to run with Zach.
Sunday
18.0 miles/2:34:32/8:35 average pace
Solo long run out on the Springwater.
First 5 miles @ 8:44 average pace
Second 5 miles @ 8:28 average pace

That's a packed weekend Jen - looks like good weather for it too. I'm jealous of your long run - great pace and finish on that one. Zach was flying - 19:36! Not so jealous of the shopping - you can have that!
Wow Jen you crushed that 18 miler!!! Awesome.
I hear you with the shopping. I hate spending my money, but ever once in a while you just have to go out and treat yourself.
Wow! What a busy weekend! And CUTE shoes!
Terrific job on the 18-miler!!
And congrats to Zach on his 5K. I don't have much patience for shopping at all it seems, except for sports-related stuff online :-)
Fun weekend photos!
Wow, what a kick-ass pace for the 18 miles! You are wicked fast!
Alright, so now you have to detox until you come visit....CRUNK TIME is where it's at!!! ♥
Thanks for posting pictures from the Shamrock! It looks like you guys had a great time too!! The weather was fantastic. :)
Awesome long run chica!
I don't shop nearly as much as I used to.
Looks like you had a great weekend! Great job on your long run and spectating duties on Sunday! Also glad you found some time for fun in the midst of training!
Sounds like a great weekend. And 18miles is amazing. Can't wait to hear about next weekend. I'm not like you I love shopping. Gets me out. I guess I like window shopping. The Italian part of me goes out and spends my money and the Scottish part of me returns all my purcheses the next day!
those ARE cute shoes. I definitely approve. :)
Sounds like a great weekend! I love the shoes by the way! ANd congrats to Zach on the 5k! :)
