Long Run, More Swimming, and Weekly Summary

Saturday 10.0 miles/1:30:55/9:06 average pace

I lucked out on the weather for this run, avoiding major rain (I did get sprinkled on a little) and overall I felt great. My pace and energy were kind of all over the place, one mile would feel easy and be faster, then I'd feel tired and run slower. But I kept on chugging along and got the miles in. :) This run had one big hill in it which was tough (really really tough!) but I felt good about running up (and down) it without stopping.

1- 9:05
2- 8:56
3- 9:09
4- 9:33 (Big hill!)
5- 9:15
6- 9:41 (random slow down)
7- 8:58
8- 9:24
9- 8:39
10- 8:12 (strong finish!)

I took an ice bath after and I think it really helped my legs recover. I am not sore today at all.

We went out last night in San Francsico to the Savanna Jazz club in the Mission and had a blast. The best part was running from the train station to the club in the POURING rain (I don't know why we didn't bring an umbrella or get a cab!). At least we knew where we were going... after calling my Dad so he could look up the address (thanks Dad!) :D It was hysterical. We had a great time and managed to get home at a decent hour.

This morning we went to the gym for a Sunday morning swim, which is a tradition I am starting to love. It doesn't make my legs sore at all, in fact it probably helps after the long run. Plus it's just so fun. I did 20 laps! I did 2 kicking-only for a warm up and one of those at the end, and swam the 17 other laps. I am improving! Today I worked on not stopping for 30 seconds+ after each length, but actually trying to touch the end, come up for a single breath (or 2) and go back. That is hard. I am so impressed with those who can just swim continuously... I am not there yet. Anyway, I swam for 50 minutes total and had loads o' fun.

TOTAL miles for Week 10 of Boston Marathon Training: 25!

Also: 2 weights sessions (pretty much full body for both) and 2 swimming sessions for a total of 1 hour 35 minutes of swimming. No other cardio this week, because swimming kicks the elliptical's ass.

Great job! Sounds like you are covering all of the fitness bases right now. The important part is staying with it and having fun.

Great Blog Jen. If it's good enough for Steve Runner, it's good enough for me! I'll be checking in from time to time.

I am So envious of your running in the bay area! San Fran is my favorite place to visit and run!!

Good luck with your training!
